A Rayne Police officer was booked with OWI this weekend in Lafayette, records show.
Desmond Cole, 21, was booked with first-offense OWI and improper lane usage, LPCC records show. His bond was set at $1000 and he was released, records show.

We reached out to Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly, who confirmed that Cole is a Rayne Police officer. Rayne police are conducting an internal affairs investigation, he said.
In the meantime, since Cole has not been convicted of anything, he is back on duty, Stelly said.
