Crowley Police: Two accused of robbing house of gun safe

Crowley Police have arrested two young men in connection with the burglary last week of a West Jeanette Street home.

In the burglary, suspects used a child to see if anyone was home, and then they broke in a stole a gunsafe. Inside the safe were almost a dozen firearms, including high-powered rifles and shotguns, police say.

During the investigation, officers were able to identify two known suspects who had made entry into the residence, removed the gun safe, and transported it to an abandoned residence located in the 800 block of South Avenue E.

Keith Fontenot, 17, and Tristin Wolcott, 22, were booked with Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling, Unauthorized entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, Drug Possession, Criminal Damage to Property, Possession of Stolen Firearms, Resisting Arrest with Force, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile. Fontenot’s bond was set at $122,000 and Wolcott’s bond was set at $114,000.

All of the firearms were recovered form the abandoned residence and released back to the victim, police say.
