Members of a boxing gym in Rayne are hoping to get it a makeover.
Charles’ Frog Capital Boxing Gym was founded by the late Charles Trahan. He opened the gym for a place kids could go to learn how to box and stay out of trouble.
Boxer Mason Menard and Walter Monceaux are now running the gym and hope to keep Trahan’s legacy alive.
Kids’ memberships are free. They’re just asked each to bring two cases of bottled water each month.
The gym is fully funded by donations, and those affiliated with the gym are asking for help from the community in fixing it up.
Anyone with experience in carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical work, air conditioning, etc. is especially needed. Trucks and trailers are also needed.
Volunteers are meeting at the gym, located at 205 E Texas Avenue, Sunday, Jan. 20 from noon to 3 p.m.
