UPDATE: A residential fire that started this morning near the Eunice Hospital on Hwy. 190 is out.
Earlier this evening, the fire was brought under control, but firefighters were still working on hotspots with the help of an excavator.
The Eunice Fire Department and other neighboring departments responded to the fire at 8:17 a.m. and left almost 12 hours later.
The highway was shut down in that area for some time because of heavy smoke.
No injuries were reported.
