Man arrested in connection with Crowley home invasion, another sought

Crowley Police say they have made an arrest in a recent home invasion in the 1400 block of North Avenue L.

Police Chief Jimmy Broussard says that 44-year-old Billy Joe Hanks of Crowley was arrested on one count of home invasion and one count of felon in possession of a weapon.

He was booked in connection with a home invasion which occurred on Saturday, September 1, 2018. One victim in the home received moderate injuries.

In August Hanks was featured on Acadia Parish Crime Stoppers wanted for allegedly stealing a John Deere Tractor from a farmer.

Hanks allegedly led deputies on a high-speed chase and evaded them by swimming across a bayou, according to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Hanks was positively identified from a lineup and was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail Facility on $325,000 bond for the home invasion.

Another person of interest is being sought by police in relation to this incident.
