St. Landry Parish deputies say they’ve retrieved the vehicle driven into the bayou over the weekend, but they have not found the body of a man who was reportedly in the car.

Deputies have identified the man as 37-year-old Adrian James Ford. He is still missing as of Monday night and family says that they want answers.

Gwen Ford, who spoke with KATC, says the pair were last seen at the Quarters Casino in Opelousas at around midnight before the incident happened. Ford’s family is also asking for anyone with information to come forward to help the investigation.

The bayou is located off of LA 104 near Port Barre.

A woman told deputies she escaped through the sunroof, but she didn’t see her boyfriend, Ford, escape, according to Sheriff Guidroz.  Deputies also say they’re being told this happened after Ford allegedly assaulted his girlfriend.

Sheriff Guidroz has stated that they are investigating the incident as a domestic dispute.  There is no evidence to indicate whether the Ford remained in the car or if he fled the scene.

“This is so difficult and painful. Just not knowing where he is!” Ford said about her brother.  “His son is 13 years old and just can’t grasp this concept at all.”

Ford says a community search is being organized to help locate Adrian Ford. Information on that search has not been made official.
