Eunice Police are searching for the person who shot and injured a 9-year-old boy.

The shooting happened around 11:00 am Sunday morning on Boudreaux Street near Childs Street.

Police believe this shooting is connected to one that happened last year, where a seven-year-old was injured. According to investigators, the owner of the vehicle targeted in that case is the same person whose vehicle was targeted this weekend.

Family says this incident has brought back bad memories.

“Again, somebody else child has been shot, around the same age for the same thing. Haven’t you guys learned a lesson the first time? ” said Carlos Fontenot.

Carlos Fontenot and her mother Denise Davis live on Boudreaux Street near where the 9-year-old was shot this weekend.

This incident comes 14 months afterFontenot’s cousin, Davis’s nephew, was shot just a half-a-mile away.

“I think it’s devastating. No mother should get a phone call to hear that their little boy or girl has gotten shot or grazed by a bullet,” Davis said.

Police believe a gang called “Goons For Life” are responsible for this latest shooting. Fontenot and Davis are now calling for an end to the violence, for the sake of children in the area.

“I wish that you guys would stop this and tell somebody, not to be a rat, but to get this situation under control. To where you don’t have to keep shooting and injuring other people’s kids because one day you will have some children as well,” Davis said.

Eunice Police are still investigating the shooting and ask for anyone with information to call the police department.
