Alabama Gulf Coast beaches will reopen this week as the state's recovery from Hurricane Sally continues, officials announced Wednesday.

According to WALA, beaches will reopen to guests at 6 a.m. on Friday, October 2. This includes Dauphin Island, Orange Beach, and Gulf Shores.

While beaches will be open, all public beach access points in Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, and Gulf State Park will remain closed until further notice due to safety concerns.

Repairs continue on boardwalks and other damaged areas, WALA reports. Those areas should begin reopening in mid-October.

The areas saw extensive damage from Hurricane Sally in mid-September. Read more from WALA here.
