Our media partners at The Advocate have posted a special report about what happens to Louisiana racehorses after the show is over.
In particular, the Advocate looked at horses that aren't successful, and at one horse who ended up at the center of an animal cruelty investigation in north Louisiana.
They looked at how some horses are sold for slaughter in Mexico, and how some people offer them to sale to horse lovers in the US - while threatening to send them to the slaughterhouse if they aren't bought by rescues.
