The Church Point Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting on David Street which officers say stemmed from a previous altercation.

Officers say they were called out to a home on David Street at around 5:15 a.m. to a report of a shooting. The victim, police say, was shot in the left shoulder with a shotgun. After being shot, the victim left the area and was located and treated on S Broadway Street.

Church Point Police say that after interviewing the victim he stated that he was allegedly shot by 44-year-old Denise Lyons. Officers say that Lyons allegedly went over to the victim’s residence and shot him because of an altercation that happened the previous day.

The police department was also investigating that altercation.

The victim in the shooting was transported to a hospital and was in stable condition when he left the scene. Lyons was arrested and booked into the Acadia Parish jail on the charge of Attempted Second Degree Murder.
