Rayne Police are investigating a shooting in the city on Tuesday night, as revelers were wrapping up their Mardi Gras celebrations.
Spokesperson Captain Tony Olinger said that officers were responding to an unauthorized Mardi Gras celebration when several gunshots rang out on the 800 block of Lyman Avenue. Officers then responded to the area on foot to investigate.
Chief Carroll Stelly told KATC that Mardi Gras festivities were over for the night, but there was still a crowd of people mingling in the area at the time.
Capt. Olinger said no one was injured in the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
Lyman Avenue is near Gossen Memorial Park.
