Rayne's police chief will get a raise in October.
The City Council voted at their Monday, August 12 meeting to approve a raise for Chief Carroll Stelly.
The council approved the $8,000 raise bringing Stelly's salary to $61,000.
That amount is $4,000 less than what the original ordinance called for.
The council says it will revisit the issue next year and possibly grant him another raise.
