CROWLEY, La. - A girl was hurt by a stray bullet entering a home believed to be from a drive-by-shooting early Sunday morning, according to the Crowley Police Department.

Police were called to the 300 block of North Western Avenue in reference to a female juvenile with a gun shot wound to the upper thigh. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is stable, but serious condition.

Upon a sweep of the area and speaking to witnesses, initial reports revealed that a car passing down the street had fired at another car (the car and driver were found later at a different location) where multiple shots were fired from the first vehicle, striking the second car at least once, stated Chief Jimmy Broussard. It is believed that one of the shots may have been a stray shot that entered the residence and struck the juvenile, he added.

Details other than that are still sketchy, according to investigators.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crowley Police Detectives at (337) 788-4114 or Crime Stoppers at (337) 789-TIPS.
