One arrested in May shooting death of Crowley teen

A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with the May shooting death of a Crowley teen.

Crowley Police say 17-year-old Xavien Jermaine Freeman was identified as a suspect in the May 15th shooting death of 17-year-old Emori Carter.

In the early morning hours of May 15, officers with the Crowley Police Department were dispatched to the area of West 10th Street in reference to shots being fired.

Upon their arrival, officers say they observed Carter laying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Chief of Police Jimmy Broussard.

Medical personnel were contacted, but Carter died from his injuries on scene.

During the investigation, Freeman was identified as a suspect and arrested by the Crowley Police Department on November 18.

Freeman was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail on a charge one count of 1st degree murder. He is being held on a $1 million bond.

Investigators say that more arrests are expected.
