One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Acadia Parish.

A motorcyclist was killed following a crash with another vehicle around 1 p.m. on LA 95 at General Lane, according to TFC Thomas Gossen, spokesperson for State Police Troop I.

The crash claimed the life of 21-year-old Brent Allen Miller of Lafayette.

Troopers say Miller was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on LA 95. At the same time, a northbound Chevrolet Suburban driven by 28-year-old Meredith Breaux of Rayne, turned left onto General Lane in front of Miller, causing the motorcycle to strike the Suburban.

Despite wearing a DOT approved helmet, Miller suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Breaux was properly restrained and was not injured.

Impairment is not suspected and the crash remains under investigation.

Motorcycles are smaller than other vehicles and are more difficult to see. Drivers are asked to pay attention behind the wheel and to always watch for motorcycles.

Troop I has investigated 5 fatal crashes resulting in 6 deaths in 2021.
