A man has been arrested in connection with a July shooting at the Westwood Apartments in Crowley.

On July 27, 2020, officers with the Crowley Police Department were dispatched to Westwood Apartments in reference to shots being fired. Officers were informed that multiple victims were shot at by an unknown suspect.

According to the victims, they were walking to help a friend pack their belongings to move when they noticed a vehicle slowly following them. A person inside the vehicle then allegedly opened fire on the group

Police say that 20-year-old Tyrese Dugas was linked to the shooting through evidence found at the scene. A warrant for Dugas' arrest was issued for four counts of attempted first degree murder.

On December 17, 2020, agents with the United States Marshal Service located and apprehended Dugas.

"It is when the public and law enforcement work together that things start to change and we start to make a difference. We are so grateful for our brothers and sisters in blue from the US Marshal Service for assisting us and bringing about this arrest. It is through collaborative efforts and the public's involvement that we are making these arrests and making a difference. It is my hope that we continue to see the tide turn for the better," Chief Jimmy Broussard said.

Dugas was transported to the Acadia Parish Jail Facility where he remains on an $800,000 bond.
