LSU Eunice hosted a goodwill softball game and barbecue Tuesday evening with a Texas-based company that assisted the university after Hurricane Delta.
Cat5 Resources has been stationed at LSUE since before Delta, and has since provided the campus with generators and assisted with large debris cleanup. The company helps state and local municipalities, as well as telecom companies, by providing disaster recovery services during severe weather events.
"We have developed such a great relationship with the folks at Cat5 Resources in such a short time," explained LSUE Chancellor Dr. Nancee Sorenson. "They were instrumental in getting LSUE back up and running after Delta as well as the greater Eunice area. We thought this would be a great way for us to thank them for all their efforts."
Athletic Director Jeff Willis said he has been impressed with the company's call to help those in need, which is something they teach to LSUE student-athletes. He said he was looking forward to "sending them off with a great night of fun."
Cat5 will also make a donation to help the LSUE community in its recovery efforts following Delta and Laura. The company presented a check donation at the softballl game.
"Cindy has been so generous," explained Dr. Sorensen of the company's Chief Executive Officer Cindy Perez. "She has already donated things to the community, has made resources available to lower income families here, and so we are celebrating this partnership with this baseball game."
