Deputies say one person has been arrested and another is in the hospital following a stabbing over the weekend in Acadia Parish.

Officials report that on Saturday morning, an argument between roommates led to the stabbing at a residence on the 2300 block of South Highway 13.

The investigation revealed that two men were involved in an argument. During the argument, deputies say one of the men, identified as 47-year-old Joseph A. Simon of Kaplan, armed himself with a large knife. The victim received multiple stab wounds.

That person was transported to a local hospital and underwent surgery to repair the damage to his back and arm area.

Simon has been charged with one count of Attempted 2nd Murder. He has been booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.
