Jimmy Bergeron of Bergeron Rodeo Company dies

Elmen "Jimmy" Bergeron of the Bergeron Rodeo Company has died.

Louisiana Rodeo Cowboy Association shared the news to their Facebook page. Bergeron passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020. He was 72.

"The LRCA officers, directors and members would like to offer our deepest sympathy to the family of Jimmy Bergeron of Bergeron Rodeo Company," they said in their post.

Bergeron was described as an Icon of the Louisiana Rodeo Circuit, being attributed with helping many cowboys and cowgirls got their start at his rodeos.

Eric C. White with Acadiana Broadcasting Group says that for over thirty years, the Bergeron Rodeo Company has offered exciting rodeo action with plenty of old school touch.

"Mr. Jimmy always took great pride in producing high-quality rodeos for his contestants and the rodeo fans. One of the staples of a Bergeron Rodeo Company production was giving free tickets to K-3rd grade students in local schools to generate another generation of Rodeo fans."

He was honored at as LRCA Hall of Fame Member.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 2:00 PM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of Services on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Quirk & Son Funeral Home of Eunice, with a Rosary at 12:30 PM.
