Police say that an Iota High School student has been arrested after a 16-year-old was found unresponsive on campus last week.

The teen is believed to have overdosed on a gummy candy laced with pure THC, according to police.

Officers say Luke P. Chance was arrested on Monday, September 30 in connection with the September 27 incident.

The department says that officers and EMS responded on Friday to the report of an unresponsive 16-year-old female student on campus.

The student was transported to a local hospital where it was determined by hospital staff that she had overdosed on what is believed to be a gummy style candy laced with pure THC.

A warrant was executed on Monday at Chance's locker and residence.

Chance was located at the residence and was arrested on the following charges:

  • 1 Count: Possession and Distribution of CDS Sch 1 (Marijuana/THC Oil).
  • 1 Count: Possession and Distribution Within a 1000 Feet of a School.
  • 1 Count: Distribution to a Student.
  • 1 Count: Distribution to Someone Under the Age of 18.

Chance was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail on a $85,000 bond.
