Ground was broken today to start a resurfacing of Crowley's baseball field.
The event was held Tuesday afternoon at Miller Stadium.
The project includes field resurfacing and facility upgrades to the Crowley Recreation Department's fields.
The City Council gave unanimous approval to the project back in June; it calls for artificial turf on all nine baseball and softball fields in the city, as well as other facility upgrades.
Mayor Tim Monceaux said he and residents are excited for the improvements and what they mean for the city.
"We're getting ready for a new era and we're hoping that it is something for our children to be able to talk about, to be able to utilize," commented Monceaux. "We're just very excited and we hope that it continues for generations to come."
