A GoFundMe has been set up to help an Acadia Parish family recover from a recent house fire in Lyons Point.

The fire was the second that the family has experienced while living on the same property.

On Monday, August 26, Vickie James and his two children were asleep inside their home when the fire started. James is a former firefighter for the Lyons Point Volunteer Fire Department.

The family was able to escape, but within minutes the home was engulfed in flames.

The fire is believed to have started in the attic.

To help in their recovery and rebuilding efforts, the family has set up a GoFundMe page.

KATC's Jordan Lippincott spoke with James on Wednesday following the fire. He tells her that despite the tragedy, he's concentrating on the positive.
