Farmers honored with dinner for cultural and economic contributions to Acadia Parish

For their contributions to the culture and economy of Acadia Parish, farmers were honored with a dinner.

Thursday, farmers who cultivate crops in the parish, which includes rice, were invited to a meal put on by the Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce and Supreme Rice.

The event took place at the International Rice Festival Building in Crowley. Doors opened at 5:30 pm and guests were allowed visit exhibitor booths set up for the event. Jambalaya made with Acadia Parish rice was served to those in attendance.

Amy Thibodeaux, President and CEO of the Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce, said, "There's so many aspects of farming and what we do, and we are really proud for having this event and thank all those people for contributing to the local economy and the culture of our community."
