Police investigating shooting in Crowley

CROWLEY, La. - Police are investigating a shooting that happened in Crowley early Monday morning.

A suspect broke into a home in the 1000 block of West 11th Street by breaking a window, according to Crowley Police Chief Jimmy Broussard. The male resident got up to see what had happened and came face to face with the suspect. The resident asked the suspect what he was doing and was shot.

The victim was coherent upon officers arrival and gave a vague description of the suspect, who was brandishing a .40 caliber weapon, Broussard stated.

The suspect fled the scene, and officers attempted to locate him around the area.

The victim was transported to Acadia General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives processed the scene and are actively investigating the incident.
