The Crowley Police Department says they are investigating their first homicide of 2021.

Officers responded Friday morning, January 15, to the 1500 block of North Avenue I in response to a shots fired call.

Upon arrival, police say they discovered a man, who had been shot at least once, on the ground.

Officers attempted first aid but their efforts proved unsuccessful, they say.

The victim was identified by police as Timmy Harmon. Harmon was pronounced dead on scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner's Office and transported for a forensic autopsy.

Investigators with the Crowley Police Department were called out at which time they processed the scene, collecting a number of items for evidence and speaking with residents.

The department says that a motive is unknown. It is also unknown as to whether there was one or more shooters.

Detectives say they do have some persons of interest and are following every lead possible.

Anyone who has information on the investigation is encouraged to call either Crowley Police at 783-1234 or Crimestoppers of Acadia Parish at 789-TIPS
