CROWLEY, La. — Board members with Crowley Main Street have begun decorating Downtown Crowley to celebrate the upcoming Christmas holidays and say they've come up with a number of safe ways for children in the area to celebrate the holiday season.

Officials say that local civic groups and businesses have taken on the task of decorating the entire main street for Christmas including lights and decorations on all the buildings and in all the business windows.

Crowley Main Street Board Member Claire Dore' says that the goal was to create an atmosphere that can be safely walked or driven through that celebrated the Christmas season.

Homeowners in the historic district have also jumped on board with this project to create "The Noel Trail," which is a trail of lighted historic homes that can also be viewed safely from one's vehicle.

There are 45 historic homes officially participating in the Noel Trail.

Dore' adds that Crowley Main Street and The City of Crowley have teamed up to present "Christmas in Crowley" on Dec. 2 from 6 - 8 p.m., where outdoor activities such as photo ops, decorated antique tractor rides, and live Christmas music will be presented.

Dore' says that the board is hoping that all of these events can help bring the spirit of the Christmas holidays in a safe yet familiar way to the families and children in the area.
