CHURCH POINT, La. — Church Point Police Chief Dale Thibodeaux is defending his officers amid accusations of unnecessary violence and bullying, according to a social media post.

Thibodeaux writes in the post that he has watched the body camera footage of every officer from every shift and noticed they were met with a lot of confrontation.

Thibodeaux reminds people that by law officers can give one level of resistance higher than what they're receiving.

He says that they've also received complaints of police shining their lights on cars and homes and stopping people in the street to ask for their ID.

But since increasing patrols, he says, they've seen incidents decrease by half.

Thibodeaux asks the community to continue working together so they can make Church Point safer.
