Church Point police Captain Kevin Trahan died last night from complications from the coronavirus.

On Saturday, officers will escort his body back from the hospital in Monroe to a Rayne funeral home.

Upon arrival back, they will make one final pass through Church Point with Capt. Trahan.

Chief of Police Dale Thibodeaux asks the community in a post on Facebook: "If you are on the street as we pass please take a moment to thank Capt. Trahan for his years of protecting the citizens of Church Point and Acadia Parish." A time will be announced later today.

Capt. Trahan served in Law Enforcement both with the Acadia Parish Sheriffs Office and the Church Point Police Department with 30 combined years.
