In Lawtell, a benefit event was held to honor a victim who was killed by an EF3 tornado in Church Point in May.
The event on Saturday featured live music, silent auctions, raffles and concessions.
Organizers set up the benefit to raise money for the family of Latreka Dominick.
Members of the community came out to help support the family. In May, Dominick, who had Down Syndrome, her mother, and brother were sleeping when the tornado picked their home up and tossed it. They were found beneath the rubble.
"It's important for people to get out and help one another. You know. Togetherness brings out harmony. so Its something that, even though you may not know the person its always good to help them because then god is going to bless you double fold," Margaret White, a friend of Latreka, said.
