The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office has cited four store clerks for illegally selling vape pens to an underage customer.

The citations were issued as part of a two-day operation conducted alongside Louisiana Alcohol and Tobacco agents.

During the operation, 18 stores across the parish were checked "to assure that they verified the purchaser's age via proper identification and that they refuse the sale to underage person."

According to deputies, agents utilized an underage person with proper identification with the goal of having the clerk deny the purchase after checking the ID.

Four of the 18 store clerks sold vape pens to the underage customer and were cited for violation of state law.

Deputies say that one of the clerks was also cited by Alcohol and Tobacco Agents for unlawful sales of cigarettes to an underage person.

The following were cited by the sheriff's Office:

  • Mohmmed Saleh, Queen City 1006 Branch St. Rayne
  • Jamie Mounier, Express 90 726 East 2nd Street Crowley
  • Parvin Hirani, Chevron 530 North Eastern Crowley
  • Chessiray Clark, Fat Boys 324 West 2nd Street Crowley

The sheriff's office says that their department has received several complaints from concerned parents and school officials regarding teens purchasing vape products at local stores.
