A plea to the people: For now, just stay home

While out providing coverage of Hurricane Delta damage, reporter Travis Guillory sent out a plea to the people seen out and about.

After any storm, it is common for resident to be curious about damage.

People want to check on their family and get started on cleanup, to get back to a sense of normalcy. Out in Acadia Parish, reporter Travis Guillory noted a number of people were traveling on roads and sightseeing in neighborhoods.

He understands the appeal, as a reporter, he is out covering the damage for KATC but stresses. "Don't be out right now!"

While in Rayne, Travis noted numerous power lines down due to tree being uprooted. Those wire could still be live and may cause electrocution.Power companies have stressed that residents should not begin moving debris near lines.

"Text your T-boy , text your Memaw, take a picture and send updates that way to your family. Just stay home!" Guillory said.

Guillory urged those out sightseeing or thinking about sightseeing to instead turn on the TV or put turn on their phone and let the professionals, the power companies and the first responders, deal with the damage.
