Abbeville changes course to lift curfew on May 1

Abbeville has changed course and will now let their curfew expire on May 1.

On Wednesday morning, Abbeville Police said they would be extending the curfew for residents in the city to coincide with Gov. Edwards extended stay at home order. in a follow up email, the police department says they will now be lifting their curfew on May 1, 2020.

The change, according to police, is in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies within Vermilion Parish.

A juvenile curfew will still remain in effect from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. for all unaccompanied minors. All minors must be accompanied by a guardian or a responsible adult. This curfew will be strictly enforced. Minors going to and from work will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Parents will be held responsible if their minors do not obey the curfew.
