A bill that would boost state aid for roads and bridges has been signed by the Governor.

The Advocate is reporting Gov. John Bel Edwards signed House Bill 514, which allows the state to gradually boost state aid by $300 million per year.

Backers called the legislation a historic breakthrough, and they noted it would be the biggest state investment in transportation since 1984.
