A PULSE nightclub shooting victim with ties to Acadiana is being honored with a scholarship in his name.

Frank Hernandez was 27 when he was killed at the Pulse nightclub on June 12, 2016. He lived in Orlando at the time, but previously lived in Lafayette. His family still resided in Lafayette at the time.

The scholarship is being set up as part of a $1 million gift from PVH Corp., a worldwide apparel company that owns Calvin Klein. The million dollar donation is being made to onePULSE, a nonprofit organization created by the owner of Pulse after the shooting.

$100,000 will used to establish the annual legacy academic scholarship in Hernandez’s name. Hernandez was a manager at a Calvin Klein store in Orlando at the time of his death.
