For the most part Acadiana dodged the rain and with a light northerly breeze temperatures were slightly below average today in the upper 80s.

With some dry air wrapping into Acadiana this evening lows should drop down into the lower 70s by Sunday morning.

Sunday looks to be a repeat of Saturday with below average highs in the upper 80s to near 90.

During the afternoon one or two stray showers will be possible but most of us should stay dry with a mix of sun and clouds.

More of the same on Monday with partly cloudy skies, highs in the lower 90s and just a 10-20% chance for an isolated shower.

The pattern changes Tuesday as tropical moisture slides out of the Gulf and over the region allowing scattered showers and storms to return to the forecast.

Rain chances stay up around 40-50% on Wednesday as the slug of tropical moisture remains over South Louisiana.

Hopefully the showers and storms will end by Wednesday evening in time for the firework displays throughout Acadiana.

The good news is the deep tropical moisture should move out of the area for Independence Day meaning it should be dry for any outdoor holiday plans but it will be hot and humid with highs in the low to mid 90s and feel like temperatures in the triple digits.

The hot and humid pattern looks to continue Friday and into next weekend with highs in the low to mid 90s, heat indices above 100 and just a 10-20% chance for a stray shower.
