A 24-year-old Flatwoods man who was in police custody was arrested after allegedly escaping.
This morning, Johnny Ellison Bennett, Jr., a Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office inmate, escaped the custody of a deputy during a scheduled appointment outside of the Rapides Parish Jail, according to Lt. Stephen Phillips, Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, spokesperson.
Deputies and officers with the Alexandria Police Department responded to the area. Bennett was quickly located and taken into custody.
He was arrested and booked in reference to simple escape from a Department of Corrections facility.
