Astronomical Summer officially starts Friday morning at 10:54 and it will definitely feel like summer with highs in the low to mid 90s again and feel like temperatures near 105.
Now, we could have a bit more cloud cover Friday afternoon which could prevent heat indices from getting as high as 108-110 like they did on Thursday but if you still have to be outside in the heat take it easy and stay hydrated.
The dog days of summer continue into the weekend with heat indices topping out in the triple digits on Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday afternoon/evening a bit more tropical moisture might swing around an area of high pressure in the Gulf producing a decent amount of clouds and a slight chance for a few showers/storms.
Our best chance for widespread rain will be Monday as models indicate a front will slide down into Acadiana during the late afternoon/evening kicking off a line of showers and storms.
The front will then stall out over the Southeast for the middle of next week creating the focal point for a few pop-up showers and storms Tuesday through Thursday afternoon.
But most of us will stay dry a good portion of next week with highs in the low to mid 90s and heat indices back above the century mark.
