The Iota Volunteer Fire Department held a dedication ceremony this evening for their new Rescue Truck.
The ceremony took place at the VFD on South First Street, and the community was invited to attend. At the ceremony, the vehicle was blessed and dedicated. Attendees were able to watch the traditional pushing of the fire truck.
Fire Chief David Douget says that the new vehicle will improve the department’s service.
“It is a progression forward. A better vehicle. More dependable to provide continuous quality service to the citizens of the community,” Douget said.
Douget says that a lot of time went into the purchase of the vehicle and was very well thought out. There is, according to the chief, history and tradition that went into the design of the vehicle.
The department currently has two rescue units in service. This new vehicle will be the 3rd unit for the department.
The new vehicle is a 2018 Ford and is replacing a 1991 ambulance, according to Douget.
