A Scott man was killed in an early morning crash on I-49 near the Avoyelles and Rapides Parish line.
Louisiana State Police say that early Thursday morning, a single vehicle crash killed 60-year-old John R. Domingue of Scott. Troopers say he was not wearing a seat belt.
Troopers responded to the crash around 1:10 am on I-49 south of the Avoyelles and Rapides Parish line. Domingue was driving southbound on I-49 when he lost control and exited the roadway into the median.
After entering the median, Domingue’s vehicle continued across both northbound lanes of I-49 before entering a northbound ditch and colliding with an embankment.
Troopers believe that Domingue may have lost control of his vehicle after the left front tire failed.
Domingue was ejected during the crash and was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
