The missing Port Barre teen has been located and is safe.

On March 28, Domeanna Spell, 15, got off the bus at Port Barre High School, walked across the street and got into a car with Cory Shane Disotel, 47, who is a family friend.

“I received a call from the Federal Bureau of Investigation at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, that Cory Shane Disotel and Domeanna Spell have been located in Colorado,” said Police Chief Deon Boudreaux.

Disotel is in police custody. He faces both state and federal charges.

“This was a joint effort with our agency, the FBI, U.S. Marshals, Louisiana State Police, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, and many other agencies and organizations, working tirelessly and fervently,” Boudreaux said. “We are so thankful that the hard work paid off, and the end result was this girl was found safe.”

A spokesperson for the FBI’s New Orleans agency also released a statement on the teenager’s recovery.

“We are pleased to announce that Domeanna Spell of Part Barre, LA, has been safely located. We would like to praise the hard work and dedication of the men and women representing the Port Barre Police Department, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Louisiana State Police, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the numerous local, state, and federal agencies across the United States who were committed to safely locating Miss Spell. Additionally, the public and the media are to be commended for providing credible tips to the authorities and repeatedly reporting on Miss Spell’s story. The collaboration between law enforcement agencies was remarkable. The success of rescuing Miss Spell is a blessing.”

The case remains under investigation.

“I do believe he did brainwash her. It was told to me that he is manipulative and he would have done it,” said Jerrie Cradeur.

Cradeur lives in Crowley, miles away from where her sister, Domeanna Spell was last seen. She’s hopeful that hanging fliers and spreading the word on social media will get Domeanna’s face out there and bring her home.

“He probably has her believing that she’s safe with him and that she’s madly in love with him,” Cradeur said.

She says her sister got off the bus at Port Barre High School, walked across the street and got into a car with Shane Disotel, who is a family friend.

“He had become really good friends with my mom and dad. They even got a deer lease together because they were really close friends, and that’s how they knew him. Dommeanna started babysitting for his granddaughter, and come to find out there was no granddaughter there for her to be babysitting,” Cradeur said.

She says the family friend would give Spell money every weekend, which made her parents think she was babysitting. All along, she believes her sister was in a relationship with Disotel.

“She probably left on her free will, and I don’t think he would harm her in any way. He is said to be aggressive,” Cradeur said.

She says there have been sightings of her sister, and that gives her hope, but she won’t have any peace until her little sister us reunited with her family.

“I will keep fighting. I will keep looking, even if its months from now. I will still share the posts on Facebook until we find her and she comes home,” Cradeur said.
