On Amy and Leon Streets off of highway 182 in New Iberia, over a foot of water stands. A large tree split causing the subdivision to be blocked off.

Lawless Morriss and his wife, Jeanette say that Thursday’s storm was comparable to a hurricane.  “At my house, it was worse. It was bad.  A lot more wind that I have seen in any hurricane here,” Morriss said.

The 3600th block of HWY 182 was blocked off as strong winds knocked over power lines.

“The wind was so strong, you almost couldn’t see your hand in front of your face,” Jeanette Morriss said

Large hail pelted the families home throughout the morning.

“We had hail at least the size of a quarter.  So much hail… I have a metal roof on my house, so I  nearly couldn’t hear myself think,” Lawless said.

Residents in New Iberia were also without power for several hours. No injuries have been reported.
