OPELOUSAS, La. – An on-duty officer with the Opelousas Police Department is in the hospital after being hit by a driver on the I-49 Service Road.
Police Chief Martin McLendon says a driver pulled out of the Stage parking lot in front of the officer causing the crash.
The officer is expected to be okay, stated McLendon.
The other driver is being taken to the police department for a sobriety test.
