St. Landry Parish law enforcement officers are working to keep senior citizens informed.

Vendors filled the room with information on health, personal safety and keeping up with their finances during today’s TRIAD workshop in Arnaudville.

The group was also warned about “The Grandparents Scam” and heard from a victim of it.

“They call you in the morning saying, ‘hey I’m a friend of your granddaughter,” said Deputy Chief Eddie Thibodeaux, spokesperson for the St. Landry Sheriff’s Office. “She’s in jail. We need $3,000 to get her out of jail. Go to Walmart or stores, get us $3,000 in gift cards, give me the number, and I can get her out of jail.”
