Lea Loftin, Zoosiana’s Events Director, and her two feathered friends swooped into the studio this morning!

The two Eclectus Parrots, Rosie and Quigley, are a part of the Zoo Live Show and are also Ambassadors of the Zoo.

The chatty birds are originally from the Solomon Islands. Although they differ in appearance, the two are actually from the same species! Male Eclectus are green while females are a bright red. Fun Fact: until the 20th century, it was thought that the birds were two different species because the male and female birds look so different!

Zoo visitors are able to meet and even pet Rosie and Quigley at the Zoo live shows! The zoo utilizes these birds to teach children about animals in a fun, interactive way.

There are a lot of new exciting things going on at the zoo, so stop in for a visit! Zoosiana is open seven days a week, from 9 am until 5 pm.
