JEANERETTE, La. – Water service to areas of Jeanerette has been interrupted due to an issue repairing a fire hydrant, according to city officials.

A loss of pressure was experienced while crews were replacing a fire hydrant at Church and Druilnet Streets in the city.  Due to that loss of pressure, the Jeanerette Water System says that water produced by the system may be of questionable microbiological quality.

Customers of the Jeanerette Water System will be placed under a precautionary boil water advisory until further notice.

Those affected by the advisory should boil their water for one full minute before consumption.

The advisory will be rescinded upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals.
