Today’s Cool School is LeBlanc Elementary in Erath. The science class is exploring the question, “How can elephants sense a rainstorm from 150 miles away?”

They’ve figured out that animals have super senses that humans don’t have, and elephants can feel the vibrations of the rainstorm with their feet! They used water waves to figure out how the vibrational waves travel through the ground and how sound waves travel through the air. They learned how to describe a wave using the words amplitude and wavelength, then figured out how the waves travel through the ground to the elephant!
