ORLAND, Maine (WMTW) —Fire marshals found the body of an Orland man who was missing after a fire at a home Monday evening.

Crews were called to the home on Winkumpaugh Road around 5:30 p.m.

Authorities say initially all five people, including two children, inside the one-level ranch home made it out safely, but one man told others he was going to look for his missing dog.

His body was found in the basement of the house around 11:30 p.m. Monday.

The home was destroyed down to the basement.

The man’s name was not released.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a cause.
