It seems like every few months Blue Bell is introducing a new ice cream flavor.
Doug O’Connor, the branch manager in Lafayette says “we always try to have 3 to 5 new flavors. Last year was a little bit lighter, I think we went with 3. This year we are projecting 4 new flavors.”
With all these new flavors Blue Bell now has about 3 dozen different varieties, which is a lot for ice cream.
To help come up with all these new ideas anyone in the company is allowed to offer a suggestion.
O’Connor says “it’s a grassroots effort. It comes from the bottom and goes up to the top. Sometimes it may be just somebody that has a family dessert that they really like and aspire to maybe make it into an ice cream flavor.”
The latest addition is raspberry fudge brownie.
According to O’Connor, “It’s an almond flavored ice cream with brownie chunks in it and then it has dark chocolate flakes and raspberry sauce swirl.”
But don’t wait too long to pick up a pint as it will only be in stores for a few months.
