Delhomme Funeral Home released the funeral arrangements today for Pastor Francis Peter Martin.
OBITUARY
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Family Life Church, 2123 Dulles Dr. in Lafayette, for Pastor Francis Peter Martin, 80, who passed away on January 10, 2019, at 8:00 AM at his residence surrounded by his family.
Pastor Todd Menard, Pastor of Family Life Church and Pastor Marty Crump will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Martin, a resident of Ridge, was the son of the late Bernard Martin and the former Gabrielle Derise.
Francis was born November 24, 1938, in Baldwin, LA to Gabrielle Derise and Bernard Armand Martin. After answering a calling from God, he began his life in the ministry in 1974 and eventually founded Family Life Church. He lived his life honoring God’s call for 45 years, selflessly serving others and spreading His word. He was also a man of the great outdoors, a craftsman, avid hunter and fisherman who could often be found cleaning his boat or frying fish for his children and grandkids. He was known for his loving, gentle spirit and quick wit. He dedicated 61 years to his wife, Babs, leading by example of what a husband, father and grandfather should be.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara “Babs” Hanberry Martin; children, Toni Maria Martin Trosclair and husband John, Gwendolyn Ann Martin Willis, Debra Jean Martin Cordy; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; 2 sisters, Genevieve Boudreaux, and Eloise Albares and husband Eddie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Gabrielle Martin; 3 brothers, 4 sisters; and son-in-law, Barry Lamont Willis.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Family Life Church on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Willis, Jamen Willis, Ian Willis, Reuben White, Jory Cordy and John Cordy. Honorary pallbearers will be Marty Crump, Timothy Hebert and David Mire.
The family would like to thank Bridgeway Hospice, CNA Ramona George, RN’s Charlotte Landry, Joy Shullaw and Jill Cranfill for all of the care and compassion given to Pastor Martin and his family. The family would also like to thank Hollie Amos, Pastor Martin’s caregiver and granddaughter, for her diligent, persistent and loving care.
