This year the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts invites Louisiana high school juniors and seniors to explore the wonder, discovery, and mystery of “The Cosmos” through an original work of art. This is the Foundation’s 10th year putting on the art contest.
Rodrigue says that many of the contest’s winners have gone on to become successful in the careers that they choose to pursue.
Students are asked to interpret “The Cosmos” theme in whatever way they want. Entries can be very abstract. Once an entry is complete, students can take a picture of their piece and submit it at georgerodriguefoundation.org. The DEADLINE to enter is JANUARY 18, 2019
The first place winner will receive $6,000 and second place will receive $5,500.
15 finalists will share $45,000 in college scholarships. Following the Scholarship Award Ceremony in the Spring of 2019, the 15 winning entries will travel on public view for one year as an exhibition at museums and cultural venues across Louisiana.
